I’ve tried pretty much all of coffee people’s extra bold K-cups. Kona is my personal favorite. It has a faint nutty flavor and is very smooth, not bitter (like black tiger), but still fairly strong. If you’re looking for a coffee that you can drink everyday, I would try this coffee. Jetfuel, Donut shop, Black tiger, etc. are good for a while, but I got tired of them after a few days. I only drink those cups as breaks between my standby’s (Kona and Organic). As far as “extra bold” goes, the cups definitely have a lot of coffee in them. A little bit of coffee spills out of all of the extra bold coffee people cups.

There are a couple of things that I really enjoy about the Coffee People Kona Blend K-cups, their pricing is and outstanding value when compared to buying the K-cups at a retail location, and secondly the coffee is good. This is the a rich, smooth, and bold blend of coffee. It almost reminds me of Starbucks as it tastes like it has been roasted to a bold flavor. I like to make this coffee when I want a little extra kick of coffee flavor to start my day. If you are a fan of bold tasting coffee I would definately recommend this coffee for you.

Delicious! Smooth, not bitter. I do not detect any hazelnut taste as previous reviewer spoke about.

It’s not that this coffee is bad, but it’s listed as “Extra Bold”. It is absolutely NOT Extra Bold, in fact, I wouldn’t even classify it is “Bold”. This is a soft, medium coffee at best.

Additionally, Kona Blend’s ususally have a nice, nutty flavor to them. This one does not. It tastes almost the exact same as Donut Shop {which is also sold as “Extra Bold” and is definitly not!}, only I would say it’s even a bit weaker. In fact, I would recommend Donut Shop over this one in a second.

So it’s not bold, it’s not nutty, and overall, it’s pretty plain. If that’s what you’re looking for, then it won’t hurt you. But if you want a strong cup, go for Black Tiger.

If you want a really strong cup, go for Green Mountain’s Double Black Diamond!

Before I get to the coffee itself, I just want to reiterate a disclaimer to anyone who’s thinking about buying this:

Yes it’s a great price for 50 K-cups, and that is an unqualified statement – when you consider that the local supermarket has 18 for $10, it’s an unbelievable value. However, the packaging and shipping method leaves something to be desired. The cardboard box you see in the picture is the shipping box – inside are 50 K-cups that were just thrown in. No peanuts, no molds, nothing at all. Just 50 loose K-cups in a shipping box. As a result, any dents the box might endure in shipping (it happens) could damage the K-cups themselves. I was lucky, as only four K-cups in my shipment had cosmetic dings and scratches and none were broken open. Other buyers have not been so fortunate.

Now, onto the good news – this coffee is brilliant. As soon as I got my shipment I went right to work using my B70′s smallest setting. Naturally this provides the richest brew, and therefore is the most telling test of a coffee’s quality. This Kona blend passes with flying colors – great aroma, a fantastically bold yet sweet taste with none of the bitter aftertaste that other bold roasts leave behind. Goes down wonderfully smooth. Just an all-around great coffee to have everyday. Some purists may question the value of a Kona “blend” (which probably has only 10% Kona coffee) but I think you should just ignore the name and buy it because it’s delicious.

Bottom line – this is excellent coffee, no question. Just know that the fragile packaging is the price you pay for $0.35 K-cups.
